Karen J. Rankin
As a child, Karen loved entertaining herself and her sister with bedtime stories starring the ten to fifteen stuffed animals she slept with. At age nine, stirred by Geoffrey Trease’s Cue For Treason, Karen started writing her first book. While she didn’t get very far with it, she became a life-long big reader. She finally got back to writing stories when inspired by her three young children. They’re all grown up now, and Karen – a teacher of both children and adults – lives with her husband and two dogs.
The author is also the only teacher of the following course for the Toronto District School Board’s Learn4Life division: Creative Writing – Memoirs (Daytime classes in Scarborough, Mimico, and central Toronto locations.)
Karen is available to do readings and writing workshops for both young people and adults.
